I was born in Boston and raised in Nigeria, West Africa. I graduated from Bethel University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and master’s degree in Nursing from Walden University majored in Advanced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.  Growing up I wanted to be a special education teacher and work side by side with families struggling with the stress and burden that comes with it. My career in psychiatry started by working as a registered nurse in a community mental health hospital supporting individuals with a wide range of mental health needs. I also grew-up in a culture that stigmatizes mental health patients due to a lack of   understanding of this illness.

As I grew in this journey, the more I’m drawn towards using my skills and knowledge to create and expand awareness about mental health. After becoming a Registered Nurse, I had many opportunities to experience other branches of nursing and was quite alarmed at the significant shortage of mental health awareness and providers with prescribing privileges. I knew this was a vital piece needed to assist individuals towards mental wellness. 

I specialized in seeing all ages and my goal for becoming a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is to provide holistic approach towards other’s wellbeing. I believe that using my skills and knowledge to treat unique individuals with mental health issues will help improve their quality of life.

As a provider, I am a good listener and I make others feel comfortable in my presence. I show empathy and respect towards patients’ value, beliefs, and opinions. I acknowledge patients’ presence and their courage for seeking for help. In my practice I always endeavor to develop a partnership with the patient to achieve their goal towards wellness.
